PDLC Film

PDLC (polymer dispersed liquid crystal) film is a thin, flexible plastic film comprised of a mixture of uniform liquid crystals dispersed in a polymeric matrix between two conductive PET.In an OFF state, the liquid crystals are arranged randomly at different directions, resulting in a strong scattering when light is dispersed. In this state the film appears opaque. When a voltage is applied, the liquid crystal molecules align along the electrical field, allowing light to pass through the PDLC film and turning it transparent.

PDLC film is the main component of the smart windows, and can be used in different applications like switchable windows and projection displays.
